At PSPA Vidya Mandir, the health, safety, and well-being of our students are our highest priority. We have established clear health and medication policies to ensure that every child receives appropriate care and support during school hours. We request the cooperation of parents in following these guidelines so that together we can maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for all.
Medical Information
-
Health Records: Parents must submit a complete health record of their child at the time of admission, including details of allergies, chronic conditions, immunizations, and any other relevant medical history.
-
Emergency Contact: Parents are required to provide updated emergency contact numbers and addresses. Any changes should be communicated to the school immediately.
Illness and Attendance
-
When to Stay Home: Students who are unwell should remain at home until fully recovered. Symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or persistent cough indicate that the child should not attend school.
-
Notification: In case of absence due to illness, parents must inform the school office by phone or email before the start of the school day. A written note or email explaining the absence should be provided upon the child’s return.
Medications at School
-
Authorization: If a child needs to take medication during school hours, parents must fill out a Medication Authorization Form signed by the parent and, if required, the prescribing doctor.
-
Delivery of Medication: All medicines—whether prescribed or over-the-counter—must be submitted to the school office in their original packaging with clear labeling. Students should not carry medicines themselves.
-
Administration: Designated school staff will administer medicines as per the instructions provided. A record will be maintained for each child.
Chronic Conditions and Special Health Needs
-
Individual Health Plans (IHPs): For children with chronic health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or severe allergies), an Individual Health Plan will be created in consultation with parents, healthcare providers, and school staff.
-
Emergency Medications: Parents must ensure that emergency medicines like inhalers or EpiPens are provided to the school, remain within the expiry date, and that staff are informed about their correct use.
Health and Wellness Programs
-
Health Screenings: Routine health check-ups (vision, dental, hearing, etc.) will be organized at different levels. Parents will be informed in advance and may choose to opt out.
-
Counseling Services: PSPA Vidya Mandir provides counseling facilities to support the mental and emotional well-being of students. Parents can seek guidance or request counseling support for their child when needed.
Accidents and Emergencies
-
First Aid: Minor injuries will be treated on campus by trained staff, and parents will be informed of any significant incident.
-
Emergency Response: In case of a serious medical emergency, the school will first contact emergency services, followed by immediate communication with parents. It is the parents’ responsibility to keep emergency contact details updated.
Preventive Measures
-
Hygiene Education: Students are taught good hygiene habits such as frequent handwashing, clean eating practices, and proper cough/sneeze etiquette.
-
Immunizations: Parents are encouraged to keep their child’s vaccinations and immunizations up to date as per public health guidelines.
By working together and following these Health Guidelines and Policies, parents and PSPA Vidya Mandir can ensure that students grow in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment. For any queries or detailed information, parents are welcome to contact the school health office.
